Std. XI Orientation

On May 29th,2026, Sophia High School welcomed its new batch of Class XI students and their parents to an Orientation Programme for the academic year 2026–27. Held in the school auditorium, the event heralded the start of a new chapter in the students’ educational journey and introduced families to the school’s ethos, expectations and opportunities.

The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Principal Sr. Alpana, guest speaker Mr. George Ebenezer, faculty representative, school Head Girl, a parent and a new student. A prayer service followed, invoking God’s blessings on the new academic year through scripture readings, reflections, hymns and prayers centred on trust, hope, resilience, and growth.

Principal Sr. Alpana welcomed the students and encouraged them to embrace the opportunities and responsibilities of the ISC years in Sophia. She introduced the Four Pillars of Education of the Sisters of Notre Dame, highlighting the values that guide the school’s mission and help students grow into compassionate, responsible, and confident young women. Her address reaffirmed the school’s commitment to holistic education and character formation.

A key feature of the programme was the address by Mr. George Ebenezer, an internationally renowned emotional trauma specialist, counsellor, educator and youth mentor. Drawing on his life experiences and extensive work with young people, he shared insights on emotional well-being, resilience, self-awareness and personal growth. His session resonated with both students and parents.

Parents and students were also introduced to important aspects of school life. The administrative team explained the school’s communication platform, student leaders outlined the rules and regulations and faculty members were introduced to the new families.

Students learned about opportunities beyond the classroom, including the Aloysia Programme, a service-learning initiative through which Class XI students provide academic support to children from Aloysia Orphanage. The orientation also highlighted programmes that promote leadership, public speaking and global awareness, including Model United Nations (MUN) training.

The programme concluded with a musical presentation by the school choir and the school song. In the vote of thanks, the teacher representative expressed gratitude to the management, faculty, parents, support staff, and student leaders who contributed to the event’s success. In the academic session, Sophia High School looks forward to partnering with parents and students to foster excellence in academics, character, leadership, and service.

Sr. Alpana in her address used the profound words of Billy Chapata and that surely will resonate in every heart at the end of this Orientation session:

“Don't be afraid of new beginnings,
Of new people,
New energy,
New surroundings,
New challenges.
Embrace new chances at happiness.”
