Date: 2nd August 2025
On a peaceful Saturday morning, we — the students of Class 12 ‘B’,
accompanied by Mr. Umar and Ms. Smitha — visited the Missionaries of
Charityin Vidyaranyapura as part of our outreach programme. What unfolded
was a deeply moving and enriching experience that far exceeded our
expectations.
Carrying essential items and open hearts, we were welcomed by the sisters and
residents with warmth and grace. Though we initially felt unsure about how to
connect, those doubts melted away the moment we stepped inside and were
greeted with genuine smiles and kind words.
We began with a short entertainment programme, but what truly stayed with us
were the conversations that followed. The residents shared stories of joy,
hardship, courage, and quiet strength. Their openness and warmth created a
space of deep connection and reflection.
The highlight of the day was a simple game of“passing the pillow,”which
sparked laughter, dancing, and playful joy among everyone. It reminded us how
companionship and shared moments can bring light to any space.
The sisters, who dedicate their lives to serving the residents, shared their mission
with humility and strength. Their tireless care and the peaceful environment they
nurture left a lasting impression on us.
As we left, we realised that while we hoped to spread happiness, it was we who
had received the greatest gift — a sense of peace, gratitude, and a deeper
understanding of human dignity and connection. This visit reminded us that small
acts of kindness and presence can have a profound impact. We hope to return
and continue these meaningful relationships.
