Sophia Walkathon Report 2026

On 18th July 2026, Sophia High School hosted its annual Walkathon with the inspiring theme,"Walking Towards a Healthier Tomorrow." The event was organised under the guidance of our Principal, Sr. Alpana, in collaboration with the Physical Education Department. The Sophia Walkathon, first introduced by Sr. Mary Priscilla through the participation of the teaching faculty, has now grown into a much-awaited annual event. This year's edition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of Grades 8 to 12, the Opportunity Section, parents, teachers, and Sisters, who completed a 3.5 km route.

Students of Grades 5 to 7 participated in an 800 metre run within the school campus. The morning began on an energetic note as participants assembled with excitement and determination. Before the run commenced, everyone was introduced to the significance and history of the Walkathon, followed by a meaningful prayer led by the Sisters, seeking safety and strength for all the participants. The waving of the flag marked the official start of the event, with the students leading the way with enthusiasm, discipline and exemplary sportsmanship. They were closely followed by parents and teachers, whose encouragement and spirited participation inspired the young runners throughout the course.

The NCC cadets, along with faculty members, were stationed at various points along the route to provide refreshments, first aid and assistance. Their dedication, vigilance and teamwork contributed immensely to the smooth and successful conduct of the event. The Walkathon proved to be much more than a race. It was a celebration of fitness, perseverance and community spirit. Participants motivated one another throughout the course, displaying remarkable teamwork, resilience and a positive sporting attitude. As they crossed the finish line, they were greeted with cheers, smiles and a deep sense of accomplishment. The highlight of the event was the recognition of the outstanding performers.

In the student category, Charvi P.T. secured first place, followed by S. A. Maria Angela Amelia in second place and Ravissa Ramesh in third.
