As part of the Outreach Programme, the students of class 8 C, Sophia High
School visited Jerome Home on Pettigrew Street, which is an old age home
for ladies today. We had gathered donations such as atta, grains, adult
diapers and other essential items, which were respectfully handed over to the
home. The fifteen elderly ladies residing there welcomed us warmly, and we
spent time speaking with them, listening to their experiences, and offering
companionship.
We also sang songs, performed a short dance where they
joined us, and ended with a prayer for Sr. Emily, who devotedly looks after the
residents. The visit was a deeply meaningful and heart-warming experience
for all of us, reminding us of the importance of empathy, service, and caring
for the elderly.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to my teachers,
Sr. Alpana, and Sophia High School on behalf of all students for giving us the
opportunity to visit the home.
