Bengaluru, 28 August 2026: Sophia High School, Bengaluru, hosted a TB Mukt
Bharat Campaign in collaboration with the 1 Karnataka Naval Unit NCC,
Bengaluru, to create awareness about tuberculosis prevention, treatment and
elimination.
The programme was coordinated by Capt. Manikandan Nambiar, Commanding
Officer of the 1 Karnataka Naval Unit NCC, and hosted by Sophia High School
under the guidance of Principal Sr. Alpana SND. The event was guided by Ms.
Nisha Souz, ANO, NCC Naval Wing, Sophia High School, and conducted by the
NCC Naval Wing cadets, with Cadet Marianne Natasha Gerard serving as the
Master of Ceremony.
The programme featured an address by Capt. Nambiar, followed by informative
sessions by Dr. Suresha G. K., Deputy Health Officer, Bengaluru, and Dr. Shazia
Anjum, Medical Consultant with the World Health Organization, supporting the
National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme in Karnataka. The speakers
shared valuable insights on tuberculosis awareness, prevention, public health
and the TB Mukt Bharat Campaign.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Capt. Manikandan Nambiar,
followed by the National Anthem. The programme highlighted the important role
of youth and NCC cadets in spreading health awareness and contributing to the
vision of a TB-free India.
