Inauguration of the 1 KAR Naval Unit of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) at Sophia High School

Sophia High School proudly inaugurated the 1 KAR Naval Unit of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) on October 23 rd 2025, in a grand ceremony held at the school auditorium.

The event commenced with an impressive Guard of Honour presented by the NCC cadets, accompanied by the Sophia Brass Band. This was followed by a graceful prayer dance and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Captain Manikandan Nambiar, Commanding Officer, 1 KAR Navy NCC, along with Sr. Chetana, the Provincial, Sr. Priscilla, the Secretary, Sr. Alpana, the Principal, and Ms. Nisha Souz, the Caretaker Officer of the Navy Wing.

The Welcome Address highlighted the significance of the newly established Naval Wing in fostering discipline, leadership, and patriotism among students. The Chief Guest was felicitated, after which a video presentation showcased Sophia’s achievements and its inspiring journey with the NCC.

Captain Manikandan officially inaugurated the Naval Wing and delivered a motivating keynote address, urging students to serve the nation with commitment, discipline, and pride.

A dynamic “Armed and Aligned” rifle drill by the NCC cadets captivated the audience, demonstrating impeccable unity and precision. This was followed by the Principal’s Address by Sr. Alpana, who commended the cadets and staff for their dedication in bringing the Naval Wing to fruition.

The highlight of the cultural segment was a vibrant patriotic fusion dance, “Rhythm of the Nation,” performed energetically by students of Classes 5 and 6, celebrating the spirit of national pride.

The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by the School Head Girl, expressing deep appreciation to all dignitaries, guests, and participants. The inauguration of the NCC Naval Wing Office marks a proud milestone in Sophia’s ongoing commitment to nurturing a legacy of excellence, discipline, and national service.
