On February 5, 2026, the Interactors of Sophia High School participated in the
awards ceremony of the ‘Inter-School Recycling Championship 2025, held at Dr.
B. R. Ambedkar Bhavan and organized by ITC’s Wellbeing Out of Waste (WOW)
initiative. The event aimed to promote sustainable waste management and
environmental responsibility among school students.
Interactors had volunteered to help in the whole school collection drive in early
2025. Sophia High School donated an impressive ‘7,603 kilograms’ of dry waste
through an innovative recycling donation drive, where students exchanged old
newspapers, books, carton boxes and plastics in return for stationery. This
activity encouraged community participation, responsible waste disposal, and
efficient use of resources.
The sustained efforts of Interactors in promoting the drive and being physically
available at the collection points from all sections of the school, Leans, Julie,
Barat, Cuvilly, Mater & Duchesne resulted in an outstanding performance,
earning Sophia the ‘Gold Award’ for Sustainability at the championship. Their
achievement stood out among several participating schools and reflected their
strong commitment to environmental conservation.
The ‘ITC WOW Green Awards’ recognized Sophia High School for its exemplary
contribution towards sustainability and eco-friendly practices and the senior
Interactors demonstrated through teamwork that passion and awareness can
inspire meaningful change and promote a cleaner, greener future for the
community.
